In between studying engineering and intense dance classes and work, she was determined to help the family in every way. Her promise to her family members, which was the main reason she made it to the top in the fashion industry, got her being scouted for modeling in Milan. She recalls, "When they asked me to go to Italy, I said"If I can send 30 dollars a month back to Venezuela and it's worth it as it will cover the entire building's water'." Patricia's triumph was the beginning of a new era in fashion when she brought industry attention to South America for the first time. After being "the first Karl Lagerfeld model ever photographed" after which she proceeded to appear in editorial spreads and advertisements for the front of Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana. Her fame spread across the globe. she was a part of Oprah and Ford Models' "Supermodel of the World" contests as well. Also that she graced the pages of Vogue, Bazaar, Marie Claire, and many others.
